-The Song of Solomon
Back in May of 2008, when I was just starting to get into the wide world of commissioned character art, one of the first artists I contacted was Joseph Caesar
Joseph came back with a really spiffy work in progress
inked version
and I was *very* happy with it!Time passed. There were delays. Joseph had a lot going on, but he stayed in contact, always answered my emails. He even called me internationally on his own dime to assure me that it would get done. As he told me, he was having a hard time getting his head around the character, and he wasn't happy with the WiP. He offered a refund, but I felt comfortable waiting, and I really wanted to stick with it. He asked if it would be all right if he scrapped the work he had done, and also, if I would mind if he expanded on it a bit...
Am I crazy? I said "Heck no! Go right ahead!" And I waited with very bated breath, dying to know what he had planned.
Here is the finished piece: 4 vs the 5th

Basically, because of delays, and his own dissatisfaction with his initial work, the artist gave me 3 times what I commissioned. He did this entirely on his own. THAT is the mark of a professional and a good guy.
I feel that this kind of class and professionalism deserves to be known. It seems to be a rare thing these days in all walks of life. He has earned himself a fan for life here.
Now, I'm off to Australia in less than a week to see my sweetie. New art, an upcoming trip, life is good!

Speaking of which--please see my Shoutboard for the wonderful gift and request art I have received. I finally figured out how to use thumbnails. Computer-savvy I am not.
Also, I would just like to state unequivocally that I am in love with WemblyFraggle
